Then, like magic, usually after the first third of the game, but in the worst ones up to 2/3, Nintendo lets the damn game off its collar and it soars far above the clouds into mystically awesome game design territory, top-of-the-class, master-chef type shit. Instead, we still spend all this time mulling around levels of just endless retreads with no creativity, no challenge and close to nothing interesting whatsoever if you've played even more than a handful of Mario games. The whole point of "Super Guide" was supposedly so they can up the difficulty of Mario while letting weaker players get through punishing points. Mario games, especially the ones these days, start off by wasting 1/3 all the way up to a max of 2/3 of the time spent playing in sleepwalkingly-easy braindead levels meant to ease shitty gamers into the mechanics of Mario (for the nine trillionth time). Why do people say shit like that when the point I made can't be more explicitly obvious?
